During the April 22nd episode of Yoo Heeyeol’s Sketchbook where CNBLUE appeared as guests, they revealed for the first time, how the name CNBLUE came about, which drew a lot of attention from the audience and the television viewers of the show.
It started when the host of the show, Yoo Heeyeol asked, “You might already have introduced the meaning of your group name, but I want to know what it stands for.” To this question, CNBLUE’s charismatic leader Yonghwa replied, “Actually ‘BLUE’ is the abbreviation of every member’s characteristics.”
This caused the members of the group to respond by introducing themselves, one after the other, in a rather funny way, by saying, “Hello, I am ‘Burning’ Lee Jong Hyun,” ”I am ‘Lovely’ Kang Min Hyuk,” ”I am ‘Untouchable’ Lee Jeong Shin,” ” and “I’m ‘Emotional’ Jeong Yong Ha,” which drew a lot of laughter from the audience.
The boys of CNBLUE then said, “We did this for the first time,” showing their embarrassment after they made the revelation. During this episode, the CNBLUE members also reminisced the time when they got to meet each other for the first time. Yonghwa and Jonghyun, who are Busan natives, already knew each other back then as they came to Seoul together to audition. The two other members, Minhyuk and Jungshin on the other hand, who happen to be the group’s youngest members, are both from Ilsan.
Compared to Yonghwa and Jonghyun’s meeting, the two revealed that instead of it being musically related since they were trying to audition in order to get into a band, they met in a private institute in order to learn English, which caused another round of laughter from the crowd. Aside from CNBLUE, talented singers Ali and Na Yoonkwon also appeared on Yoo Heeyeol’s Sketchbook during this episode as guests.
